About

Jill Green was born in Geelong in 1975 and studied Visual Arts at Gordon Institute of TAFE from 1993-1995, majoring in Photography and Printmaking. She also studied Arts (History) and Social Work at Deakin University from 1998 to 2004.

It is a love of the natural world, related found objects, nostalgia, relationships, the written word, collecting and reflecting that inspire Jill’s art.

Her work is represented in private and public collections including Charles Sturt University and the National Gallery of Australia.

Jill currently lives in Geelong after a period of secluded bliss in the Gippsland Ranges that has shaped her recent work. In addition to her studio practice she conducts art and education workshops for children and adults.

From squidging my little hands into the warm salty Play dough from my Mothers saucepan to singing a rainbow and mixed media creations from Children’s morning TV; creating objects was a regular occurrence. A creative voice was nurtured and encouraged so it bloomed and became second nature to express ourselves through music, dance, art and play. This has continued throughout my lifetime.
